The problem
Locked-In was a small app I made to push myself to keep up with habits and personal goals. There was no complicated product thesis behind it. Habit trackers already exist, but building my own meant I could decide how a plan should be organised and remove anything I did not want to use.
What I built
A plan can begin from a built-in template or a blank setup, then be broken into actions that appear on the relevant days. The Today screen shows only what is currently due, while progress stays attached to the plan it belongs to. Everything is kept on the device, so the app does not need an account, cloud service, or onboarding process.
Decisions and tradeoffs
Templates and a blank start
Templates make it quick to try a common plan, while the blank option keeps the structure from deciding what self-improvement is supposed to look like for everyone.
Keep the daily view quiet
Today shows the actions that are due and stays empty when there are none. It does not manufacture reminders or urgency just to make the app feel busy.
